The Firewire 800 fiber optic extender transmitter connects to the host computer with a standard cable, and the receiver provides two ports for connection of peripheral devices. The transmitter also has a built-in hub for connecting another Firewire device. In addition, LEDs provide link performance status at a glance. One duplex fiber optic cable connects the transmitter (computer) to the receiver (Firewire 800 device). Although the extenders can be bus powered, two universal 12 VDC power supplies are included. The Firewire 800 fiber optic extender allows users to extend Firewire devices up to 1000 meters (3280 feet) with no signal degradation.
