beyerdynamic’s new Quinta conference system at the Berlin-Brandenburg Broadcasting Corporation

beyerdynamic’s new Quinta conference system at the Berlin-Brandenburg Broadcasting Corporation Heilbronn, February 19, 2013: RBB (Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg) is the broadcasting corporation of the federal states of Berlin and Brandenburg and operates six radio channels and its own television channel. It is one of eight regional broadcasting corporations in Germany which are members of ARD. RBB was looking for a new, wireless solution for the conference rooms in its broadcasting centres in Berlin and Potsdam. These rooms are used for a wide variety of events, such as broadcasting council meetings, conferences and briefings. The requirements for such events vary and include in particular a high degree of flexibility in terms of furnishings and equipment, depending on the kind of event and the number of people attending. What was wanted in both locations was the installation of a discussion system for 40 participants with docking facilities for up to 8 notebook systems. Mobile table systems are used in the conference rooms at the Berlin and Potsdam locations. In view of the need also to meet the requirements of high flexibility and mobility in terms of equipment and to guarantee reliable voice transmission with the best possible transmission quality, everything pointed to the Quinta wireless conference system from beyerdynamic. The Quinta system has three frequency bands (2.4 / 5.2 / 5.8 GHz) at its disposal. The conference system constantly seeks free transmission channels and automatically switches to a free channel in the event of allocation or interference. Switching to other channels is automatic, seamless and absolutely noise-free. The system thus complies with the latest ETSI specifications and requires no frequency allocation during commissioning. The WLAN can also be used unreservedly for other purposes during conferences or other events. This led to the new ClickShare system from Barco being adopted. ClickShare uses its own WLAN network (2.4 or 5 GHz) for transmitting video data. Several participants can link their presentations in from their own laptops with one click and transmit them wirelessly to the data projector. The presentation can be divided among up to four laptops in split mode. Two modern WLAN access points for wireless data communication were installed additionally in the conference rooms. All the uses of the WLAN work in parallel without any interference and with optimum transmission quality. A further decision criterion in favour of Quinta was the possibility it offered to use gooseneck microphones of varying lengths. This allows the discussion situation and the table height to be taken into consideration individually with regard to the best-possible feedback stability. Separate audio ports for the four microphone channels allow the sound to be adapted individually to the speakers’ voices. For more information about Quinta, please go to www.beyerdynamic.com/quinta
