Hall Research Launches VGA & Bi-Directional RS-232 Extension on Single UTP Cable

Hall Research Technologies, a leading designer and manufacturer of Audio/Video distribution, switching, scaling, and automation products, is launching their new UV232-B, VGA & Bi-Directional RS-232 Sender and Receiver Kit at the top industry trade show, InfoComm09 in Orlando, Florida.

Tustin, CA, 92780 - Hall Research is proud to announce that the UV232-B, VGA & Bi-Directional RS-232 Sender and Receiver Kit will be launched at the Audio/Video industry’s trade show, InfoComm09 in Orlando, Florida.

The UV232-B is used to send high resolution video and full-duplex RS-232 over a single Cat5e/6 twisted-pair cable to a remote location up to 500 feet away. The source video can be RGBHV (PC's VGA) or YPbPr (HD analog component). The video input is DDC compliant with EDID emulation to assure proper PC boot-up with video output under any operating system. The system supports HDTV resolutions from 480p to 1080p , or PC resolutions from 640x480 to 1920x1280 at any refresh rate.

The Bi-directional RS-232 can be used to control LCD's or video projectors with serial control, or be connected to touch-screen LCDs in interactive kiosk applications. The serial port supports baud rates of 300bps to 115 Kbps.

“As a natural evolution of our successful Mini-Cat® video extension product line our team has designed the UV232-B so that it could be integrated with touch-screens and interactive operator systems, projector control systems, and digital signage” said Ali Haghjoo, Chief Executive Officer.

The kit includes a compact sender and receiver with integrated mounting brackets and requires connection of only a single power supply. The Receivers (UV232-B-R) can also be used with HRT's Genesis Matrix Switchers that have RJ45 outputs which embed video and RS-232 in the same output connector.

Hall Research Technologies will be showing the UV232-B at their booth (#4178) at InfoComm09 for the first time to the Audio/Video industry as well as to the general public.
